At Barnwell, students are taught to develop their creativity and ideas and increase proficiency in their development. We encourage them to develop a critical understanding of artists, architects, and designers, expressing reasoned judgements that can inform their own work. We aim for students to develop a range of technical skills and knowledge which they are then able to use in the development and manufacture of products throughout KS3,4 and 5.
Within our Design and Technology Key Stage 3 curriculum we embody some of the highest forms of human creativity. A high-quality Design and Technology education should engage, inspire, and challenge students, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own designs and products.
The national curriculum for Design and Technology aims to ensure that all students are equipped to communicate design, making, evaluation skills and application of technical knowledge through experiencing a rich curriculum rotation. Within the rotations students are introduced to:
3D Design | Food Technology | Graphic Communication | Textile Design |
