Sixth Form Question Time

On Thursday 29th November 13 students from the AS Level Government and Politics and Critical Thinking classes had the fantastic opportunity of experiencing the annual Student’s Question Time at St.Albans cathedral. The day’s format was set around the BBC show “Question Time” and the students had the opportunity to put questions to a fantastic panel of speakers including Michael Portillo, Mike Newell who has directed films such as Traffic, Four Weddings and a Funeral and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Tim Hancock who is the UK director of Amnesty International, Lembit Opik the Liberal Democrat MP and Jon Snow the broadcaster. Topics ranging from whether torture is ever justifiable to the debate over the school leaving age where discussed and the pupils encouraged to verbally spar with the panel. The day proved to be an excellent experience and will prove invaluable in supporting the student’s studies.
