Barnwell School has now appointed Ms Carter as the Reading Assistant

She would like to express the importance of reading for secondary school students.

"Reading is the most important skills a child can attain from school and it will influence your child's success in all other subjects. I know from my own experience how difficult it can be to ensure teenagers keep reading and our intention is to offer as much help and support as possible to keep your child reading.

We will be introducing a new reading programme to Barnwell very soon. Our aim is to encourage and instil good reading habits. As part of this scheme I hope to be offering you regular tips via Bytes and online to help you play your part in supporting your child's reading at home. At school I will be working both in the classroom and Library enthusing and advising students. I look forward to this exciting new challenge and I know that your children will benefit from this immensely."

Reading Tip

Leave all sorts of reading materials including books, magazines, catalogues in conspicuous places around your home.

Book Reviews

Miles To Go by Miley Cyrus

From this book you will find out a lot of facts about Miley Cyrus and her life before being Hannah Montana and her life when she became Hannah Montana.

Likes-I like the bit when she talks about all of the famous people she met and what they said to her or she said to them.

Dislikes-I didn’t dislike anything in this book, some parts didn’t really make sense but other than that it’s a really good book.

Unputdownable- When I first got the book I couldn’t put it down until I got to ‘mile two’ which is on page 76 I read all of that in about three hours because its so interesting I read it so much I had finished it in about a week.

Recommended- I love this book and recommend it; hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I do.

New Moon by Stephanie Meyer

It is the second book in the Twilight series.

The first book is Twilight; this is then followed by New moon, Eclipse, Then breaking dawn.

This series is about a Vampire called Edward Cullen who falls in love with Bella Swan; they then embark on a very dangerous journey as they face other Vampires who try to kill Bella.

Edward leaves Bella as he thinks that’s best but he finds out that when he left, Bella then got involved with Werewolves!

Read one and you have to read the rest they are absolutely un-put-down able!

Warning: Not suitable for people who are afraid of scary story s!

I give New moon 10 out of 10!

I think that New moon is a great book and every one should read it. New moon is the second best book, Well that’s what I think, anyway!
