Healthy Schools
Barnwell is officially a Healthy School after receiving re-accreditation in December 2007.
To become a Healthy School we had to show excellent work in:
- Personal development and work in such areas as anti bullying and relationships
- Healthy eating - we have a healthy eating policy not selling chips or fizzy drinks and promoting healthy options such as pasta, salad and fruit
- Healthy exercise - our sports and other activities and clubs
- Healthy lifestyle - including our work involving students in the School, Year and Form Councils, etc
Barnwell has been designated a Healthy School since Autumn 2003 and you will find in lots of lessons that staff have designed the curriculum to support a healthy lifestyle.
At our re-accreditation in December 2007 our work was described as 'inspirational'. In February 2008 we won a national competition to find the "Happiest School in the Country".
